Dan White
(actually PM me for address please)
Any american lithers interested, PM me and we'll sort something out.

Thanks a lot you cheeky monkeys

p.s. This can be moved if mods dissapprove, but be nice...

18:12 / 22.04.05
it's lovely. proper bo!

(sorry)

karen was in floods. i didn't even notice there were no superheroes in it til i'd finished, and i read it again at breakfast and the back cover's got a few marmalade smudges on it now. i kind of wanted the rabbit to knock the hepcats about a bit for being so narky, but hey, it's not that kind of strip gumbitch (you asshole).

mac's mad visual skillz be better than ever - was asking myself 'does he know how clever he's being?' with some of the layouts and the scenes he chooses to highlight - i expect he does.

go on you lith cunts it's ace.

how is dan btw?

It doesn't really stand up to the works of Phillip Roth, though, does it?

There's a masturbation scene that knocks Portnoy's Complaint for six...

Looks fuckin a, MacG.

I will send you four Scottish One Pound notes (unspendable in the South,) so no evil posties know what they are, and because I am not allowed chequebooks, in an envelope when I get round to it.

looks very good indeed.

was it done on a printer? you could try sending it to Cold Cut Distribution [google for it] and see if they carry it into comic shops.

Uncle Batman
22:42 / 24.04.05
Yeah, it's regular old pen and ink, rproduced ona laser copier. I originally planned an ultra fancy product, but costs amnd the desire to get it out there prohibited.
Will look into Cold Cut - cheers for the heads up Hector..

Also might be worth getting in contact with Shane Chebsey Who does a small press distro-type thang called Smallzone...

And are you putting copies in Page45? They are all about the small press stuff, man.

Like the others say, this looks absolutely lovely. I’m sure I’ll send you a cheque just as soon as I scrape £3-50 into one place.

Scraping money together, looks lovely!

Gotta ask though, are you a fan of Sam and Max?

Uncle Batman

Second person to ask me that Suedey. Answer is no, unless I was influenced on a reeeaally subconscious level...

It's also worth sending copies out to people like Chris Staros (one of the nicest guys in comics) and Brett Warnock at Top Shelf and the guys at Oni cause they get a blast out of seeing good new stuff...

I loved the panel of Milo smiling behind the counter of the record store and the transformer... much fun...

Cheers for the advice Sleaze - I'm gonna do just that. Oni in particular is a publisher where Beau & Me might fit in.

This looks bloody lovely! I'll get my money to you soon McG. This is what I miss for taking a holiday from the 'lith

There's one less copy on the shelf in David's. Go pick up your spoils!

Ever so good, this. Elegantly sketched cartoon animals having a quietly downbeat time, plus snow. It couldn't fail to bring the lower lip out in a wobble.

Favourite panel? Probably the late drink with Mylo, against the wall with those stark shadows. Just lovely.

Milo, rather.

Thanks dude. You summed it up perfectly. Currently nearing completion on a second piece (working title 'Tony is A Werewolf') which I'll shamelessly whore here no doubt.

To all of you that haven't tried to get your hands on a copy: FOR SHAME!

It's a lovely book, crammed with little human truths and transporting artwork. It's sad without being manipulative, and funny without the humour being forced.

Go get it.

Hey Nelson! I picked up your comic at Dave's (one good turn and all that...) t'other day. It's swell. Really like the bold brush heavy lines. Nice surreal story. Reminded me of the very best 'Deadline' strips.

Linkism

Go and buy it you fools!

Finally picked this and Tony Is A Werewolf up at the weekend - outstanding stuff, particularly this. I entirely agree with gumbitch about how clever some of the layouts are. Actually what I'm really obsessed with is how good the pacing of the narration is. One of the things I love in good writing and always strive for is the ability to create an impression of the pace at which something is being said so for example when writing in prose you can leave out punctuation and string things together to create an impression of everything coming out in a breathless rush - or, you can, I think, puts lots, indeed perhaps, some might say, too many, commas, in there. And I'm fascinating in how one can make that work in comics, and what affects you can achieve with it.

Beau & Me seems like a masterclass in this particular skill. It's got an incredibly deft ability to identify very particular moods and then portray them through subtle techniques like the spacing of the words on the page, and tiny little bits of body language.

It is probably the best comic I've ever read produced by someone on this board, and I've enjoyed a lot of comics produced by 'Lithers. You can cut out everything from "produced" onwards if you want to quote that, MacReady.

It's just so well judged, isn't it? So quietly moving towards the end.

Cheers Flyboy.
There's a small press book/comic/whatever thing happening in London's Olde Easte Ende on Saturday. It's in Mile End (at my old University) and the info about it is here.
Be nice to see any London 'lithers with a hole in their Saturday schedule.
