There's also Alan Moore on Gothic Nightmares at Tate Britain, 25th March. You don't book tickets for the talk, but you book tickets for the Gothic Nightmares show from 3:00 to 4:00 and he'll be doing his thing then.

Crap, I'm going to miss this. I don't suppose anyone will be sneakily recording it, will they?

Cool, I'm coming from Brighton 'specially because I'm such a fanboy (Moorcock! Moore! Who would win in a fight between Elric and Promethea!) so I'll PM you my mobile number and a brief description of my attractive appearance.
Nuneaton, I'll *try* and take an MD recorder & mike but I'm not making any promises. If not I'll make it up to you in old issues of Micronauts the comic. You love it. It's your girlfriend.

Flippin crickey moses missus!!! M.M. is ace! I can't believe I'm going to be stuck on a train heading home while they'll be chatting away. Flippin nora crickey etc.

If anyone does happen to be there and just happens to have a minidisk and mic about their person, and they just happened to press 'record'... well, "I have pornographic movies... in my apartment, and lubricants, and amyl nitrate..."

£7.50 for tickets, £6 concessions, Free to Tate Members. You're paying to go in the exhibition, not to see Moore as such.

where's Malet st?

RADA is opposite University of London Union (aka ULU) and very close to The Plough pub and the British Museum. The nearest station is Goodge Street on the Northern Line. I may or may not be at the event, but possibly folk might want to meet in The Plough or RADA bar before or aftywards?

I will be in the Plough quite early, building up my excitement and reading, and probably stroking a new book from Atlantis. Anyone passing nearby is welcome to pop in!

We should definitely plan a Barbelith outing to the March Moore exhibition, that would be cool.

Bastard!
The moore/moorcock thing is soldout.
I realise the semi-pointlessness of my even typing these words, but does anyone know of any spares going?

I completely forgot to turn on my recording equipment. The dicussion was Mostly fascinating, but some of the audience questions were quite banal. A couple of them were really good, particularly one that involved a chat about the post WW2 reaction to romanticism. Alan Moore to Michael Moorcock physically was Rock Star to Professor.

Most amusing moment was an anecdote by Moorcock about meeting a large texan who would have been more than a match for himself and Alan Moore combined. You could almost see Alan trying to protest the idea with the power of his magic rings. Or something.

It wasn't until the end that I realised I was chatting and sat next to comics commentator Rich Johnston and his missus.

Sorry I didn't come to find you afterwards, Quantum. It was awkward timing, that's all. Hope you had fun!

Did indeed, glad it was cool! Damn those sold out tickets, I'm buying one for the March thing ASAP to avoid disappointment.

When I rang to book the March 25th gig they suggested booking the 2:30 or 2PM slot as a 3:00 ticket only lets you in AT 3:00 and the talk is starting then and they expect a queue.

Damn them, they've obviously changed their mind since I phoned. The timed tickets thing is supposed to get people going at a steady throughput, I would hope for this that they actually clear people out for earlier hours so those of us who got the tickets for the correct time have some chance of getting in. May have to phone again...

Do they still have tickets left and was there any conclusion on what time people are booking for?

I didn't think to ask about tickets, but have been assured that if I have a ticket for that time, I will be going in. They're using the area where they just finished the Degas and Toulouse Lautrec exhibition, though it is being rebuilt, hopefully to larger rooms, though the person I spoke to was unable to say whether Alan Moore's talk would be in one place or whether he's roaming around the exhibition.

From speaking to a rep just now I'm doubtful they realise how popular this will be. I'm also doubtful as to whether people with valid tickets will be able to get in...

On the website, 3pm seems sold out and 2.30pm seems not available, so I'm planning to book 2pm.

11:56 / 10.02.06
I could buy you a ticket for the 2pm slot, if you're that worried it will sell out and you could promise to pay me back? (I don't think we've ever met, but hey, we were both at Elseware's party on Sunday, so we may have seen each other across the room or something.)

Otherwise, if that slot sells out as well, you could always buy an even earlier ticket?

News from those Jim Dandys at Savoy books is that a DVD of the Moorcock/Moore conversation is coming out sometime this year.
Yay Savoy!

So, do people fancy meeting up at a pub afterwards? Anyone know any decent places in Pimlico?

Pub afterwards could be good, but I don't have any suggestions.
