I don't know if pirates mix well with Russian-American gangsters.

Maybe for the sequel...

It's too hot to move tonight, and my creative juices have congealed a bit. Blah.

I could just email it to you. That way I could get some feedback on the overall flow of the piece.

Take a hot shower, Bat-Fairies.

I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but it usually works for me.

Hot shower for the creative juices followed by cold shower for the heat.

Creativly, I'm passed congealment and well into decay. Bleh.

I'm here, though just for a little bit.

I just watched Uzumaki. It's like Cemetery man only with snails instead of Zombies.

Yz. I travel the world, speaking weird things and making shit happen at random.

How are you, Kegs? I've run afoul of some fiends and I'm stuck in lonesome servitude, checking the books in and out. I long to find the proper words to make the chains dissolve...

I believe the magic words you're looking for are "Hello, 911? Im setting the library books on fire."

Nice police officers will arrive and relieve you of your chains and replace them with theirs.

Have you tried jumping into a book to escape? I'm not sure on the technique, but I have seen movies and in these book-worlds, despite weird wolfish monster things, there seem to be an unusually high rate of hot-looking people wandering around you can collect.

Alternately, start swapping the YA and adult sections one volume at a time and see how quickly someone will remove you from your shift.

I'm pretending to be a functional editor tonight. It's interesting.

I might just random swap sections book-by-book. It's terrible, but making it difficult for people to find things might make the time pass quicker.

Editing! Yay.

I'll have story notes to you later tonight, I promise. I have an idea for another existential porn-gone-bad story that I plan to start tonight as well.

Dammit. Now I have the themesong to The Never Ending Story running through my head.

That came out of nowhere.

If you're Bastian, I'll be Atreyu. Anyone want to be the Childlike Empress?

It didnt come out of nowhere, it came out of Decadent's advice to try "jumping into a book to escape? I'm not sure on the technique, but I have seen movies and in these book-worlds, despite weird wolfish monster things, there seem to be an unusually high rate of hot-looking people wandering around you can collect."

Aha. I was thinking more of the Thursday Next books than TNES.

Deculture Decedent
03:42 / 08.08.08
Keggers, that theme song is penance for everything else. Not just everything else from The Neverending Story, but from everything else. The upshot, being that you don't have to fear any additional penance as long as you stop now.

Looking forward to your comments, Papers, and to your new potential maybe-happen story.

And, who doesn't want to be a vaguely-inefficient awkwardly-enigmatic child-ruler bathed in overused lighting effects?

Deculture Decedent
03:45 / 08.08.08
Eh. You both win the prize.

Other acceptable answers could have included Labyrinth and The Pagemaster.

I'm pretty excited about writing this story. The idea gelled when I was on the bus coming to this infernal library, and it's been rotating all day. I've been reading a fair number of Peter Milligan comics lately, which may have an interesting influence on the prose...

Also: admit it, if you had omnipotence you'd make everyone speak like a mid-90s X-Men character written by Lobdell for a whole day, wouldn't you? I would.

Deculture Decedent
03:51 / 08.08.08
I'd make everyone talk like mid-nineties Lobdell's Jubilee, to be absolutely honest. And wear the coat and shades. Seriously.

And on that note, I back out of the lateshift slowly, to return in maybe an hour or so. See ya then, kids!

See ya, Dcdnt. Have a good time editing and we'll see you soon, hopefully.

So, this hour had slightly more than twenty-two minutes, but it is done and I am returned.

And I am returned with a plan. No matter the shipping. Regardless of who I have to beg or bribe into packing. I will get all of my movies, books, comics, and other stuff into one state before I die of old age. So it is written, so it is planned.

Welcome back!

My chains, they still have not yet dissolved.

Deculture Decedent
04:42 / 08.08.08
Have you tried using them to fight evil and win the heart of a childhood sweetheart? It seemed to work for Nicolas Cage, and frankly, Barbelith has gone way too long without even the suggestion of a good chainfight.

Hmm. Perhaps when my 28 days is up I should be Ghost Paper or something. Burning forever but never ashes...

There aren't enough comics-related handles on this board. Ever. Except maybe when we almost had a full compliment of Avengers.

I'm still shooting for some variation on Aquatripper, I think. Although, Barbara Gordon, Decadent Congresswoman has deranged possibilities.

No. Aquatripper, it should be.
