Sounds like a lot of fun. Is it coming easily to you? I have some ideas I've been thinking on today that I might fire onto a word processor document when I get home tonight...

Deculture Decedent

Surprisingly easy. I think it's going to act as a personal retirement of some tropes, which means nothing to audience, since I barely have one that follows my work, but fuels the writing immensely.

And it's a callback/response piece to a lot of other peoples/groups' tropes, including directly tackling what I consider the schism beside fantasy and magical realism, the canon-making standards of Native Lit, and trying to make didacicism valid and useful in a 21st Cent. context. Plus dead birds full of wires, the fear of youth, the fear of the old, true love versus some other kinds, and in the end, trust in the time of movies.

It couldn't be easier or move viral-ly me, if I just cut and pasted my Barbelith posts together at random.

It's your personal milieu.

I'm working on weird stuff with monsters that aren't horror-monsters.

Deculture Decedent

There's always room for good monster fiction.

Of course, my copy of Nightbreed is sitting atop the TV waiting to be rewatched, and that's halfway between the two sorts, in its weird, studio-hobbled little way.

Bastard wasp just stung my little lad during his four o'clock feed. He's gone back to sleep while I'm stalking the living room, revenge in mind. This is my white whale...

Tell me you were gesturing when you posted that, Jawsus. And that someone was working the bongos!

I've come to an impasse in my one-day-overdue short story.

I'm now shifting. and editing photos and watching American Masters, Annie Leibovitz - Life Through a Lens.

What seems to be the problem with your story?

Hiya everybody!

Since the alternative is to keep dancing with the dog and waiting for a call that probably isn't coming, I thought some shifting might be good.

Hey there Keggers and Deca!

What seems to be the problem with your story?

Well for one thing, it's at least a day late. Also, the main character lost his doppelganger and I can't figure out how he's going to find it.

Plus, I can't figure out how to end the story. I saw The Prestige recently and, taking my cue from that, I know how it's supposed to end. But I don't want to do that, as it would make the main character more of an asshole than I want him to be.

How's the documentary, Keggers?

And, LN, much luck on your story progress.

Not too bad. Nothing new or insightful yet. How's the dog at dancing?

LN, have you thought about having cops arest the doppleganger and main character watching himself being hauled away on tv. I hate when that hapens.
