Wow. The guy who came up with the idea of "Garfield minus Garfield" is going to have them published, by the original publisher of Garfield, with Jim Davis's blessing.

“I think it’s an inspired thing to do,” Davis said. “I want to thank Dan for enabling me to see another side of Garfield.”

Davis has been interesting with Garfield of late. I mean, the strip actually had to change to follow along with the movie, meaning one or three different jokes became possible in the series for the first time in a decade, and then the Just Jon thing. Definitely the edgiest, most interesting thing you could do with the concept as an alternate-perspective.

The support and not suing makes me happy.

I just got off an hour-plus phonecall counseling a recently-re-engaged couple with my fabulous that's-why-I'm-still-single relationship theories and lots of "you're both at fault/nobody's at fault/do what you think is best" talk. Exhausting.

I think the only thing I'm actually qualified to advise on is emergency on-site napping, not Can our relationship last if we live in different states for months? or How can I make him not be jealous that I have a better degree? Emergency napping, the importance of eating every time you have the chance, and precious little else.

Issues got somewhat resolved and there are understandings and treaties where there were grey areas. Of course, most of the peacemaking came from MattS, because he is a logical-headed sort of fellow.

Well, I'm like Canadian-removed or something (I'm not, but I come from), but I can count Canadian, I guess. Can count Spanish, too.

Anyhow, I think I've found yet another small pleasure in life, which is a dinner of choc chip cookies, hot as hell gumbo, and whisky-laced coffee stuffed with chicory. Makes it all worthwhile.
