I've had a fucking lovely afternoon. Even though the very concept of things actually going right in my life for once is a scary one, I shall endeavour to cope with it.

I am loving bicing as well, Talks to Strangers. Rolled downhill to the beach this afternoon, then promenaded along the front for a while. This evening I used it again to get to a friends house and again to return half way. I haven't cycled for years and it instantly put me in a good mood.

In reference to this post, I have to say that I'm over it for now and that makes me happy. I just had a phenomenal weekend of:
1) a $5000 yearly raise on Saturday
2) talking with and hanging with X on Friday
3) a great houseparty on Saturday
4) a hug from one of the more gorgeous girls I've ever met on Sat
5) an easy work day on Sun
6) a baseball tournament on Sunday and I got really drunk in the sun, and actually got on base! well, first base....
7) and plans to go see Nas in Minneapolis via a fun roadtrip!

FUCKING PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY SHOUTING!

I normally don't post this stuff so close together, but a post on the Man-Man blog (permalink here) actually inspired a reader to make a dance instruction card for the Nerd Rock Boogie.

15:45 / 17.07.07
Belated happy from the Matrix fic, so much of it just needs a tiny tweak to fit almost any situation.

"gentalmen the fight goes on" Quantum said with fist and the crews cheered with new hope.

It's like weird syllable poetry;

"Good morning Neo
we must kung fu"
So they trained the jiu jitsu
and martia larts.
Neo kick him
"Good job"

Other happy includes a weekend spent at a festival, and it's my last week working for sstink boss, and I host a heroes and villains fancy dress party on Saturday. : )

Stoat-ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH
16:39 / 17.07.07
Fucking brilliant night last night, and on returning home this morning (and trying to figure out how I could afford to take Sheena to the vet as she appeared to have hurt her foot) got a cheque in the post for, well, let's just say a shitload of money. (When my Godfather died years ago, my family and I decided our share of the money he left should go to his mum, as she was very old and needed it more. She died recently, and clearly hadn't spent much of it at all. I mean, I'm vaguely sad that she died, but I never met her and only ever knew her as an abstract, so...)

And only last night I was moaning that I wanted to move house but couldn't afford to...

That is some serious-ass good luck there, Stoats.

I know. I'm fucking terrified of the moment when God realises one of his filing guy angels was pissed, and accidentally filed the "good shit" stuff under "Stoatie", instead of the "everything going horribly wrong" stuff. Poor fucker's gonna totally lose his job.

Ah well, if I ever get to Heaven I'll buy him a pint for fucking up.

For anybody who likes shapes in clouds and likes to throw the word 'synchronicity' around in their majike talks, tell the Ghodz that this was quite cool, and also for them to give ME the flying thing and give a 'hi' to Flex for me, will ya.

Not that this and Kent Couch wasn't cool enough or anything...

This is probably supposed to be confidential, but today, at a group job interview, interviewer asks who our heroes are and why we respect them. 56-year-old guy goes:

Neil Diamond - because ah er he expresses himself through music, I've been really into him these past seven years.

Wtf's it got to do with the job? Why seven years? Neil Diamond!

Later the guy leans back and says:

I don't fear. If you fear you let yourself think you can fail.

Neil Diamond doesn't fear and that is why his music is so awesome.

So many nice things today:

Frantz Fanon's Black Skin, White Masks
Iced tea with pineapple juice
Chocolate chip cookie
Sunlight
Michael Jackson's PYT, in which he urges, "Let me take you to the max!"
Overhearing a man say, "I just couldn't have an intellectual relationship with Josh, he mispronounces a lot of words. I think he thinks verbatim begins with a b," followed by a list of his favorite insults, which included "I love to call things pedestrian. And disinteresting."

Today, someone asked me: 'How do you pronounce "Rufus Wainwright?"'

As far as I could tell, they were doing it correctly, and it's the best question I've been asked in ages. But I'm now saying his name periodically to myself just for the sound of it and it gives me a happy every time. Innately fun name.

This is a happy.

It is made of stupid amounts of unexpected cash and being about to go over to a particular person's house for the night.

And win, obviously.

It seems when I am happy, most people I know are miserable. So, that makes me sad. Which is good, because it seems then, everyone else will be happy. And that makes me happy...oh crap.

My sensei is an amazingly compassionate smart person and after attending one of her conflict resolution seminars yesterday I'd very much like to follow her around all the time. Well, when it wasn't intrusive and creepy to do so.

It was the first all day seminar I've attended where everyone was as excited and engaged at the end of the day as they were in the first hour. Actually I do believe we were more excited and engaged...

I know there's a more appropriate thread for this somewhere but I'm too deliriously happy and tired to find it...

Our first baby was born last night. My girlfriend was amazing - long difficult labour (home birth transfer to hospital for high baby with deflexed head) but she pushed him out in the end all by herself and no tearing. We were home 3 hours later. Life changing stuff. Now we are both completely besotted.

Photos at our blog.
