Help writing word puzzles

Here's the situation: It's my friend's birthday and I want to come up with a set of four simple puzzles that yield specific answers. The answers I need are:

Robot (or robots)
Timber
Lemonade
Chain gang
Cymbal (or cymbal crash)

The idea is that each clue will lead to specific area of my house where he'll find a small gift with another puzzle attached.

Thank you very much for any help you can give. As I've discovered, I'm really terrible at devising word puzzles.

Yeah, sure, actually any type of little puzzle would be great.

One caveat: I have to be able to figure it out too.
