to pull a root.

[sob... tears to my eye every time i hear it. so beautiful...]

(i recall, fondly, a three hour [!!] dinner conversation with four lit grads, a lawyer and a mental health advocate dissecting this gem - o the essay we should have written!)

This here's the wattle
the emblem of our land
you can stick it in a bottle
or you can hold it in your hand.

There was a great Bicentennial anthem by the D-Generation called "Australia's Got A Big One", I'll post the lyrics if I can find my copy of "The Bumper Book of Aussie Heroes".
