Just listening to some RFTC (Hot Charity/Cut Carefully and Play Loud) and thought I'd give them a Barbelith mash note since it's a lovely Saturday afternoon.

Lyrics that mean nothing but are carefully constructed to be awesome to sing/shout along to...an actual sense of humor...unbelievable hooks ALL THE TIME...and oh sweet Jesus the horns! RFTC, you are the one for me!

When I listen to "Tarzan" or "My Arrow's Aim" I always dance. No matter where I am or what I'm doing. You played the best show I have ever seen in my life (although Sahara Hotnights helped) at the goddamn Metro. Thank you, Rocket From the Crypt. Thank you.

The drummer in my last band was obsessed with these guys. I remember him playing me some stuff and I loved what I heard. I really need to just pick something of theirs up.

Go for Group Sounds--get the UK version with extra tracks if you can. Nice intro to the group's friendlier side. If you want something noisier and more lo-fi, get All Systems Go Vol. 2.

'scream, dracula, scream!' - marvelous album.
'born in '69' kicks ass all the way from here to uranus.
imo only 'hot charity' and maybe 'circa: now!' come close to 'scream, dracula, scream!' - everything else they did just can't match up to that album.
