I am back from the dentist`s office, missing my top two wisdom teeth; full of gauze and looking at three days with nothing to do but recover! The pain is throbbing through my entire head. I need some Barbebalm.

Gosh you poor thing! You very much have my sympathies. You probably got post-op instructions but if you do, try not to smoke for at least 24 hours and don't be tempted to rinse for that time either. Ice packs should help with swelling/pain and copious amounts of good TV/reading with the horror. I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, they gave me a full run-down on what to do. I'll keep rotating the gauze for a bit but I'm pretty sure I've clotted all right for the moment. I'm going to miss solid food -- I keep having this craving for pizza, for some reason -- but I'll be hitting the applesauce in a while just to keep my strength up. Woo.

I took out the gauze to eat applesauce and now that my tongue has investigated my mouth and noticed the absence - whoa. I'm having an existential Ozymandius moment, daydreaming about the skull that lies under my meat.

Pain. I am made of OW at the moment.

A friend of mine gave me the first season for Heroes for Xmas, so I might think I might dissolve myself into that. Though I could do with some Bill Murray.

I had a pretty decent last meal, a spicy peanut noodle box. With prawns! Now, by contrast, I have applesauce. By Friday I should work my way up to mashed potatoes. There's something modestly soul-crushing about applesauce. BUT, there's ice cream in the freezer!

Good luck with the healing, Loaded Sentence! The worst hopefully is already behind you.

And beware, watching comedies might increase/start the hurt. I once saw the first circa thirty minutes of The Gods Must Be Crazy after a inguinal hernia operation, and then had to leave because laughing caused so much pain.

I also got turned off watching Cowboy Bebop, because of the wisdom tooth operation. I tried watching this series to distract myself from the uncomfortableness. And now I connect CB with unpleasantness.

(I find that computer games are an astonishingly good way of dealing will illness/pain. Pretty much the only time I ever play them, actually)
