You were so much a part of the world that I never asked you about yourself, and it feels as if, though I knew you my whole life, I barely scratched the surface of yours - though I know from whispers that you were a hero as well as a gentle genius who smelled of oil and turpentine.
I just managed to tell you, one more time, how loved and how important you were. I got in under the wire. They tell me you died peacefully and at peace with yourself, though I can't quite believe it - but if anyone could pull off a trick like that, it would be you.
