As soon as I can find a 20 foot long cable to run from my modem to my phone socket, I'll be back properly - just you wait and see.

It works - it's alive! Ahahhah! And they said that a mac user could never configure a pc!
I found the cable, [not in radio shack, but in a small electronics store resembling a shack] and will now be able to be online whenever I like, barring horribly large phone bills.
And hello to Rollo Kim and wellbanshee SR - I'm glad everyone else didn't make too much of a scene. Anyone would think that I hadn't been missed...
Don;t worry - normal service has now been resumed - I will now commence rambling around threads and making inconsequential comments.
