Oh! Oh! I'm all excited here and want to run out and buy this. AL Kennedy has a new book of short stories coming out (or already out? not sure). There's a review in The Scotsman here: http://entertainment.scotsman.com/books/reviews_specific.cfm?id=7715&g=fiction

Actually, the review is from a couple of weeks ago so probably everyone is reading this and thinking, "well, yes, we knew that..."

Well, I'm not - yayy! Thanks for letting me know, I shall go and read it in Borders cafe forthwith. I was reading Night Geometry and the Garscadden Trains the other day and thinking that I do find it surprising that people aren't constantly throwing parades and hurling flowers in the air and dancing with joy at the fact that A L Kennedy is a fucking genius, so it's nice to see a thread on barbelith at least...

within the glasgow tarot set, she represents Melancholia.

Cowcaddens is my Underground stop.

She once did a descriptive passage of text for the Observer describing Glasgow's character.

It was the most resonant, accurate rendering of the city I've ever experienced.
